Senior dogs can often develop dry, flaky skin or “hot spots” as their immune systems and skin barriers change. Coconut oil acts as both a moisturizer and a gentle antifungal, providing a chemical-free way to soothe irritations and maintain skin integrity.

How I use it

I started “slathering” coconut oil on Maya years ago when she developed a rash after a day at the beach. After a quick search confirmed it was safe, I tried it and it worked wonders. Since then, it’s been my go-to for her seasonal skin irritations. I use it at least once every summer for environmental rashes and during the winter to treat her dry, calloused elbows.
