I included this GPS tracker because independence is a huge part of a dog’s quality of life, but it must be balanced with safety. Senior dogs can experience sudden hearing loss or cognitive changes (like sun-downing or disorientation) that can affect their ability to find their way home or hear a recall command. A tracker provides a vital safety net, allowing an older dog to explore while giving the owner peace of mind.

How I use it

I don’t use this with Maya because her lifestyle is more supervised now, but it has been a game-changer for Baya, our 15-year-old girl who joined us in 2025. Baya has always enjoyed a free-roaming lifestyle in our neighbourhood, and I wanted to preserve that for her. I use the tracker to monitor her whereabouts, and I even share her tracker details with neighbours so we can all check in on her as she makes her rounds.
